Speedrunning Personal Development
Gm everybody.
I have a confession to make: I’ve been slacking. I’ve recently made some big wins in life and let myself take my foot off the gas (bad idea).
I spoiled my momentum What started with giving myself some slack turned into a dissolution of all the habits that got me to where I am today.
So I spent the last week abstaining from all the bad habits that were sapping me of my potential. Blank slate.
If you feel like you’re not making as much progress as you should, consider implementing some tactics from this Personal Development Speedrun Protocol
Priming Yourself for Success
Embrace the Discomfort
Upskilling is by definition painful. Making yourself better than you were yesterday will be uncomfortable. You need to accept this.
Flip the script. Instead of dreading the uncomfortability of better habits, take it as a sign that you’re on track. When I’m inevitably met with discomfort, I say to myself “I’ve been expecting you”.
Your brain hates transition periods. Going from inaction to action. But once you’re in the zone, you start enjoying the process.
Working out isn’t hard, getting yourself off the couch is.
Writing isn’t hard, sitting down with pen & paper is.
Socializing isn’t hard, getting yourself to the function is.
The discomfort is part of the GAME. And this is the game you signed up for. Embrace it
Finding your Why
A lot of us want to become smarter, stronger, richer, and better simply because thats what we’re told to do. But why do you want it? A man that has a why can bear any how.
Get clear on this. Crystal. Set aside your pondering time daily to reflect on why you need to level up. What life is waiting for you on the other side of all the things you don’t want to do?
Methodizing the Madness
Your life is one big experiment. Make observations, gather data, hypothesize, test, repeat.
Nobody knows you better than you. Find whats unique about your hardwiring and dream of a life that fits that mold. Always be asking yourself “what would this look like if it were easy?”
Gather data, get an objective picture of how you operate. Don’t rely on willpower. Work smarter not harder
Daily Assessments
This is the foundation. What gets measured gets managed.
1. The ONE Thing
Every morning I ask: "What's the ONE thing I must accomplish to make today worthwhile?"
Here's why this matters: Digital work has killed our sense of accomplishment. Tweaking conversion rates by 0.07% hits different than building a shelter or hunting food. Your brain needs concrete wins.
2. The Gratitude Reset
Our caveman brains are wired for constant dissatisfaction. It kept us alive, but now it's keeping us miserable.
