Thanks for this Noah. Could you explain a little more about why resetting these pathways would lead to blunted affect? And what would you do if experiencing anhedonia, just discontinue?

As an oversimplified version: Addiction is a game of chasing pleasure. Remove that pleasure response and there is no longer something to chase. No more addictive behavior

This re-regulation of "pleasure pathways" can dampen pleasure-seeking behavior across the board

This is merely speculative though. I have not noticed these effects

Another good option for the pouch and dip boys are Tea Tree Mint toothpicks. They hit the tingly feeling and something to chew on/move around.

Noah--can you tell me more about how nicotine is neuroprotective and also can increase glutamate too much?

This is not me disputing it's neuroprotective.... only that I associate those as contradictory, and if I start nic naccing I don't want to glutamate myself at my brain's expense. :)

Hey Noah, thanks so much for this article. Really struggling with both nicotine and caffeine addiction right now. (and mostly have for like the past 10 years!)

Would somebody hypothetically take all of those supps listed, or just a few of them?

Really really appreciate any insight!

Great post!

When do you reckon it's time to cycle off nicotine for a bit? You mentioned the addiction symptoms above, but are there heuristics/vibes before you hit that point where you know you're in diminishing returns?
